Today we rode 285 miles.
We left Orange City this morning but not before Miss Maddie had her first ride! When we got Harley, we told her she could ride when she turned ten. I know lots of people who let their kids and grandkids ride much younger but that was our rule {kinda like my girls not getting their ears pierced until they were ten}. Anyway, today was the day! Grampa took her for a little spin and when she got back she said she liked it and it wasn't scary at all. It's not for everyone so we were happy she liked it. Maci wanted a ride and, of course, she will LOVE it but, no, she has to wait just like big sissy!
Off to Valentine, Nebraska. No specific reason to stay in Valentine other than it fit our planned route. On our way, we stopped at the Niobrara Sportsman's Club for lunch. Seriously, we pulled into town and thought for sure we'd be going to the next town to find a bite to eat. We saw this place and it looked awesome so we went in. Great food, even greater service and while we were eating, three gentlemen came in. They stopped to chat and asked where we were from. Iowa. No kidding, they were from Iowa, too! We asked where in Iowa were they from. Are you ready for this???
ORANGE CITY!
Well, how awesome is that?! We didn't get their names, but they were riding two BMW bikes and a Victory. So to all our Orange City friends, if you know who these men are, tell them hi!
We dodged rain all day but four miles from Valentine, it started to rain. Not bad. Nice little restaurant across the street so we had supper and now it's time to unwind.
Tomorrow: Casper, Wyoming. Now our trip is going to get exciting!
